MANILA, Philippines — It will be a rainy Christmas Eve in Metro Manila due to the prevailing northeast monsoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
According to weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin, the northeast monsoon, or “hanging amihan,” will bring light to moderate rains in Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Region, Central Luzon and Calabarzon.
Fair weather is expected on these areas on Tuesday, Christmas Day.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area spotted in the vicinity of San Jose de Buan, Samar is expected to dissipate in the next 24 hours.
Visayas, Caraga and Bicol region will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA.
The weather bureau is also monitoring another LPA outside the Philippine area of responsibility. The weather disturbance on the eastern side of the Philippines is likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone, Bulquerin said. /atm
