PCG in maximum security for Christmas holiday

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard has assured the public of their safety and security as they start to flock in various ports across the country.

PCG Spokesperson Captain Armand Balilo said on Saturday that the agency was implementing maximum security on ports and vessels.

“Naka-maximize yung ating mga sea marshalls and K9 units [in checking the baggage of the passengers,” Balilo said in an interview with dzMM.

“Yung mga safety inspectors na pumapanhik sa mga barko ay dapat maging metikuloso hindi lamang doon sa safety ng barko, kundi tingnan na rin kung mayroong threat doon sa security ng barko kapag ito ay naglalayag na,” he added.

The safety and security concerns of the PCG are in coordination with the Philippine National Police, Philippine Ports Authority Police, and the shipping companies.

“Lahat kami ay nagtutulong tulong sa pag-iinspection, sa pagmamanman sakaling may gumawa ng hindi maganda,” he said.

Port monitoring of the PCG shows a total of 20,678 outbound passengers recorded in all ports from 12 midnight until 6 a.m. on Saturday./lb
