MANILA, Philippines — The guardian of an Ateneo junior high school student, who was mauled by his schoolmate, has reported the incident to police.
The student was accompanied by his guardian when he went to the Anonas Police Station, or Station 9, of the Quezon City Police District to lodge a report, according to the station’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD).
The filing took place two days after a video showing a taekwondo blackbelter punching and kicking his schoolmate at the Ateneo de Manila went viral on social media.
Ateneo has launched an investigation on the incident.

The WCPD officer on duty clarified that the blotter request was only made for the record.
The guardian did not file a complaint against the alleged perpetrator.
Earlier, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it would extend any assistance that the Ateneo administration would ask.
The Anti-Bullying Act of 2013 defines the procedure in handling bullying cases, according to Supt. Kimberly Molitas, PNP deputy spokesperson.
“Nakasaad doon na unang magte-take action ay ’yung ating school administrators muna,” Molitas said.
[It’s stated there that first who takes action should be school adminstrators.]
“And then, it is upon determination of the case or the incident, it is their job to inform the law enforcement body,” she added.
