MANILA, Philippines — Traffic in some areas of Metro Manila started to build-up by Friday evening, as authorities expected a “carmageddon” with Christmas rush anticipated to intensify this weekend.
Joel Waje, of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Metrobase, told dzMM that traffic flow at certain portions of Edsa has begun to slowdown, as of this posting. The MMDA has expected traffic to further lose pace Friday night.
Specifically, Waje said moderate traffic could be expected in the following areas:
- Edsa Southbound Lane in Roosevelt
- Timog Avenue to Ortigas Flyover
- Ortigas Flyover to Meralco Avenue
- Bonifacio Avenue to Cabrera Road
- Roxas Boulevard to Edsa Northbound Lane
- Magallanes flyover Northbound to Ortigas road along Robinsons Galleria
Waje advised motorists to take alternate routes, especially the so-called Mabuhay Lane to avoid the decelerating flow of traffic. /kga
