MANILA, Philippines – The family of the bullied student should “take the law in their own hands” to teach the student who bullied their child a lesson.

This was the call of Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Friday following a bullying incident inside the premises of Ateneo Junior High School (AJHS) that was captured on video, which went viral online.

In the video, some AJHS students were seen verbally insulting a fellow student with one eventually assaulting the victim inside a comfort room.

Locsin, in a Twitter post, said: “The parents of the bullied kid should take the law in their own hands. The only way to teach a bully is to beat him senseless. Psychiatric help? He should get traction,” Locsin said.

In another post, Locsin further said: “The bullied kid may be haunted by this abuse. He is the abuser. The abuser should be beaten senseless. Trust me, this works – sometimes permanently.”

“Jesus, what’s the world coming to when bullies are babied instead of beaten,” he also said.

The AJHS administration said Thursday they would not hesitate to dismiss or expel students who may be found guilty of grave misconduct.

To recall, the viral video on Facebook showed some AJHS students bullying other students – ranging from verbal to physical attacks.

“Bugbog o dignidad? (Assault or dignity?),” a student asked another student, prodding the victim to choose.

The victim chose to be beaten up, to which the bully student said: “Kasi kung pinili niya yung dignidad, papaluin ko siya, hahalikan niya yung dalawa kong sapatos pero gusto niya bugbog (Because if he chose dignity, I will slap him, and he will kiss my shoes but he wanted to be beaten up.).”

Almost immediately thereafter, the student started assaulting the victim. /kga
