41,000 sea travelers leave for provinces ahead of Christmas

MANILA, Philippines — Almost 41,000 sea travelers set sail to celebrate Christmas in the provinces.

The Philippine Coast Guard said it monitored a total of 40,810 outbound passengers in various ports nationwide from 6 p.m. Thursday until 12 midnight.

The highest number of travelers were recorded in the Central Visayas ports with 11,288 outgoing passengers.

In Southern Tagalog, South Eastern Mindanao, Southern Visayas, and Southwestern Mindanao, the PCG recorded4,903, 3,382, 3,284, and 2,624 outbound passengers respectively.

The PCG also said 1,836 passengers left the Bicol Region by onboard sea vessels, while 1,378 passengers were monitored leaving various ports in Eastern Visayas

In Metro Manila and Central Luzon ports, 499 passengers left while 261 passengers sailed from seaports in Northeastern Luzon.

The Palawan port recorded the lowest number of outbound passengers with 147 passengers.

No unusual or untoward incident had been reported by the PCG Passenger Assistance Centers.
