Subanen tribal chief gunned down in Zamboanga del Sur

PAGADIAN CITY – A 70-year old tribal chief of the Subanen tribe was shot to death by unidentified gunmen in Sayog village, Lapuyan town, Zamboanga del Sur Tuesday evening.

Police Regional Office 9 spokesperson Chief Inspector Helen Galvez said Quizon Situl, a Timuay or the tribal chief of the Subanen living in Sayog village, was at his cornfield at Purok Lenaw Gabi when unidentified gunmen shot him, causing his untimely death.

The Lapuyan police have yet to identify the motive of the killing and the gunmen who fled on foot towards the boundaries of Lapuyan and San Miguel towns. LEAH AGONOY
