MANILA, Philippines – Owners or drivers of illegally parked vehicles in the National Capital Region will be slapped higher fines starting today, Dec. 19, 2018, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.
In a regulation released by the MMDA, the fine for attended vehicles parked illegally is now up to P1,000 from P200. The fine for unattended vehicles, meanwhile, has been raised to P2,000 from P500.
Motorists obstructing the road will now have to pay a fine of P1,000 from only P150.
With this, a motorist can be fined up to P4,000 per day for illegal parking.
The MMDA said violators could receive up to two violation tickets in a day, with 3-hour interval between issuances.
In August, the Metro Manila Council (MMC) agreed to impose higher fines for illegal parking violations in a bid to instill discipline among motorists.
