Truck carrying steel bars flips in Monumento

MANILA, Philippines – An 18-wheeler truck flipped on its side early Wednesday as it tried to go around the Bonifacio Monument Circle in Caloocan City.

In a report by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Metrobase, the truck was carrying steel beams weighing 25 tons.

The accident happened at 3:39 a.m. at the roundabout.

Due to the accident, the MMDA deployed a mini crane to lift the truck and clear the area. A fire truck was also deployed to clean up oil that spilled from the truck.

No injuries were reported by the traffic agency.

As of 7:25 a.m., the MMDA said motorists should expect a heavy traffic within the vicinity of the accident area.

Metrobase said the tail-end of traffic in the southbound area of MacArthur had already reached Tamaraw Hill Road in Valenzuela City.

Meanwhile, the end of traffic located in the eastbound lane of Samson road has reached Heroes Hill in Quezon City. /cbb
