Man killed in shootout with police in Malabon City
MANILA, Philippines — A man suspected of illegally selling guns was killed in a police buy-bust operation in Malabon City on Sunday evening.
Police said they launched a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pangulo to arrest Bernard Bautista, 59, who was allegedly involved in selling unlicensed firearms.
The suspect sensed he was transacting with a policeman which prompted him to open fire at the lawman, according to a report from the Northern Police District (NPD) on Monday.
Police said a brief firefight ensued as the operatives retaliated, killing the suspect on the spot.
Police recovered from the crime scene a caliber .38 revolver, two bullets, three sachets of suspected “shabu,” and P2,000 cash used as marked money. /cbb
