AWOL cop shot to death in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer who has been absent without leave for three years was shot dead Sunday afternoon at Barangay Paang Bundok in Quezon City.

The La Loma Police Station identified the victim as Arthur Cordero, a resident of 1487 Quirino St., Tondo, Manila.

Authorities noted that Cordero, a rank of police officer 2, has AWOL from the Manila Police District since 2015.

Meanwhile, police said the assailants were two men wearing black jackets and helmets with face masks. They were on a white motorcycle.

The back rider pulled out a still unknown firearm and fired several times at Cordero, who was then standing in front of a lechon store.

The suspects shot Cordero in “different parts of his body more particularly on his head causing his instantaneous death.”/atm
