6 killed, 1 survive hacking attack in Cagayan

MANILA, Philippines — Six people were killed in a hacking attack in Gonzaga in Cagayan province on Saturday. A 3-year-old boy survived the massacre.

According to an initial report, Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba confirmed in a text message that six members of a family were hacked to death in Sitio San Francisco, Barangay Ipil.

At around 7:30 a.m., Barangay Chairman Edgar Rasos reported that six bodies with hack wounds were found in their barangay.

The dead were identified as 42-year-old Dizon Oandasan, Sany Oandarade, 5-year-old Dizon Oandasan, 3-year-old Denisson Oandasan, and 53-year-old Juanito Soliva.

The other fatality was still unidenitified.

Police also said a 3-year-old boy survived the attack. He was taken to a hospital with a hack wound on his nape.

The suspect remains at large. /atm
