MANILA, Philippines — A female traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is in hot water after a video of her seemingly provoking and hurling insults at a motorists went viral on the internet.
In a Facebook post by a certain Albert Bugarin, the lady enforcer can be seen taking a video of a motorist while arguing with him and saying: “Ang pangit na nga ng mukha mo, salbahe ka pa.”
Bugarin claimed he was already apprehended by a different MMDA enforcer but the lady enforcer, identified in the video as “Vergara,” bullied him.
The post, however, did not disclose further details of the incident.
The video was posted on Wednesday morning and has been shared more than 7,600 times, as of this posting.
Sought for comment, MMDA Spokesperson Celina Pialago on Friday said they have already forwarded the spot report of the incident to their Traffic Discipline Office for appropriate actions.
“We hope that this viral video will serve as a reminder to our enforcers to practice and observe the highest degree of restraint in situations like this,” Pialago said.
She reminded traffic enforcers that even if even they are provoked or insulted, “public officers/officials should always keep their emotions intact at all times.”
“Like any other viral videos there will always be two sides of the story but that doesn’t mean that we will tolerate such act,” Pialago said. /kga
