Woman hurt after car smashes into tailoring shop in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY – A woman was badly hurt after a car smashed into a tailoring shop where she was sleeping in Los Baños town in Laguna province early Thursday.

Laguna police director Sr. Supt. Eleazar Matta said a car driven by Frederico Anis, 46, a seafarer, suddenly swerved off the road and plunged into the tailoring shop in Barangay (village) Timugan where Mercidita Capistrano, 59, was sleeping around 2 a.m.

Due to the impact, the wall was smashed and the car was destroyed.

Capistrano and Anis were both taken to the hospital for treatment.

Capistrano told police investigators that he fell asleep while driving. He was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injury and damage to property. Maricar Cinco/lb
