Cops nab ‘person of interest’ in slay case of CIDG operative
MANILA, Philippines — The police arrested on Wednesday a “person of interest” in the slay case of a member of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Pasig City.
Armed with a search warrant, the police barged into the house of Julius Panis, uncle of PO2 Manuel Melendrez, who was shot in the back at least thrice in front of his house in Barangay Caniogan, Pasig City on November 29.

Police recovered from Panis’ residence two caliber .38 revolvers with five live bullets each, a reloader for a caliber .38 revolver, a rifle grenade, and a rifle.
The police also arrested Panis’ son Aaron Paul Panis for possession of a hand grenade and a grenade type tear gas.
The two were brought to the Eastern Police District Field Unit for documentation and disposition. /jpv
