CAUAYAN CITY – The flag-draped casket of Army Cpl. Herald Thomas Marayag, who was killed in a Dec. 7 battle with the Abu Sayyaf in Sulu province, was flown to Isabela province on Sunday morning).
Marayag, a resident of San Agustin town in Isabela, was part of the augmentation team of the 21st Infantry Battalion, which clashed with 20 Abu Sayyaf fighters in Barangay Bungkaong, Patikul town at 5:38 p.m. last Friday, according to Maj. Jefferson Somera, spokesperson of the Army’s 5th Infantry Division, which is part of the Western Mindanao Command.

Marayag died of a head wound.
His relatives, who fetched his remains, said they were proud of Marayag “for risking his life and dying a hero.” /atm
