MANILA, Philippines — The entire personnel of the Anilao Municipal Police Station of Western Visayas Police have been relieved from their posts after some of its personnel were caught sleeping during duty hours.
A statement from the Western Visayas Police said the personnel were sacked after some of them were found dozing off at the police station upon inspection of the National Police Commission on Thursday. The station also did not have a duty sentinel on post.
Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, director of Police Regional Office 6, ordered the relief of all 27 officers including their chief, Sr. Insp. Menrico Candeliza, on Friday.
All of them are now temporarily assigned at the Personnel Holding Administrative Unit of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office while facing investigation.
Anilao Municipal Police Station will have Chief Insp. Ciriaco Esquiliarga as its new chief.
Sr. Supt. Marlon Tayaba, provincial director of Iloilo Police Provincial Office, said they have already issued orders for the replacement of the relieved personnel of the Anilao Municipal Police Station.
Meanwhile, the Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division will conduct a Focused Reformation Orientation and Morale Enhancement for Police Officers on Monday, December 10. Police said the relieved officers are expected to attend the seminar. /kga
