NDFP consultant Rey Casambre arrested in Cavite
MANILA, Philippines — National Democratic Front of the Philippines peace consultant and Philippine Peace Center Executive Director Rey Claro Casambre was arrested by the police in Bacoor, Cavite on Friday.
Chief Supt. Edward Carranza, Regional Director of Calabarzon Police, confirmed this to INQUIRER.net in a text message.
Casambre was arrested with his wife Patricia while they were onboard a Toyota Vios in Barangay Niyog 3, Molino Boulevard, according to a police report.
Police said Casambre was arrested for murder and two counts of attempted murder by virtue of a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court 11th Judicial Region, Branch 32, in Lupon, Davao Oriental.
Although Casambre’s murder charge is non-bailable, the court allowed him to post a P120,000 bail for each count of attempted murder.
Police said they recovered from Casambre a caliber .45 pistol and a magazine, seven bullets for caliber .45 pistol, a bundle of electric detonating cord, a fragmentation grenade, two cellphones, a laptop, and P6,000 cash.
