’FIRECRACKERS DEALERS MUST SECURE CLEARANCE’
The law regulating the sale and display of firecrackers, will be strictly implemented as the holiday season comes.
Only cities of Mandaue and Cebu have ordinances designating areas for the display of firecrackers.
In Cebu City, it’s the South Road Properties.
For Mandaue City, its the North Reclamation Area.
The police chef and barangay officials will also identify areas for firecracker zones, where pyrotechncs can be safely exploded.
Article continues after this advertisementFirecracker manufacturers, dealers, retailers, sellers should secure a clearance from the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) for their business to be legal.
Article continues after this advertisementWithout a clearance, goods will be seized and vendors will be charged, said Senior Supt. Louie Oppus, deputy regional director for operation of the PRO-7 during the Talakayan Sa Isyung Pulis (TSIP) forum.
Even retailers with a mayor’s permit who fail to get a clearance from the PNP regional director are still operating illegally, he said.
Police also urged local government units to identify fire-prone areas for public safety.
Retailers need to submit a letter request of the applicant, barangay clearance, police clearance, fire safety clearance, mayor’s permit, authorization to retail from manufacturers or dealers, certification from manufacturer or dealer, and retailers fee payable to Land Bank.
A license fee of P10,000 is charged for manufacturers, P5,000 for dealers, P1,000 for retailers, and P1,000 for display operators./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
LAPU STABBINGS
A man in barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City was stabbed in the stomach when he and a cousin argued about a fight involving their children.
Oliver Mahusay, 31, was stabbed by Roldan Mahusay, a construction worker, who fled after the incident.
In barangay Pajac, Jose Monares, 32, was stabbed in the body thrice by a drinking buddy.
He was drinking with Oliver Mojado, 37, when an argument broke out during their drinking session.
