Duterte to appoint AFP Chief Galvez as peace adviser
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will appoint Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr. as his next presidential adviser on the peace process, Malacañang said Wednesday.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Duterte made the announcement during Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.
“The President announced his intention to appoint General Carlito Galvez, Jr. to the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process,” Panelo said in a statement.
Galvez will replace former Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza who resigned last month.
Galvez will be stepping down on December 12 from the AFP as he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56. /je
