Town councilor slain in Zamboanga del Norte

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A member of the Sangguniang Bayan in Sominot town, Zamboanga del Norte was shot and killed on Tuesday afternoon in Barangay Bobongan, Ramon Magsaysay town.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Licup, regional director of Police Regional Office 9, identified the victim as Romeo Mainar Sr.

“He was shot to death by an unidentified suspect in Barangay Bobongan around 12:10 p.m. on December 4, investigation is ongoing,” Licup said. “We also set up dragnet checkpoints in the towns of Midsalip, Molave, Mahayag, and Labangan,” he added.

The Sominot police was still investigating the motive behind the shooting. JULIE ALIPALA
