National Human Rights Consciousness Week is observed from Dec. 4-10 by virtue of Republic Act No. 9201 signed on April 1, 2003, by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
According to the proclamation, all government agencies should celebrate the week through simple activities to make people aware of their basic human rights.
