LTFRB orders P1 provisional rollback on jeepney fare
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Monday ordered a provisional P1 fare rollback for jeepneys in Regions 3 and 4, and the National Capital Region.
“The board hereby resolves, as it is hereby resolved to order a provisional rollback of PUJ minimum fare to nine pesos for the first four kilometers for Regions 3, 4, and NCR,” the resolution reads.
The current fare hike on jeepneys is at P10 after the board approved in October a P2 fare hike in the said areas.
According to the resolution, the fare cut would be have its effectivity “immediately.” The decision was approved by LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra and board member Ronaldo Corpus.
Aileen Lizada was not part of the signatories following her recent appointment as the commissioner of the Civil Service Commission.

“Because of the continuous rollback in the price of fuel, Secretary Tugade directed us to implement a motu proprio fare decrease,” Delgra said.
“We will implement that, and no fee shall be charged for a new fare matrix,” he added.
Delgra also said that the board would continue to hear the petition of the UFCC regarding the same issue. /je
