Senator Nancy Binay on Monday urged University of the Philippines (UP) Regent Frederick “Spocky” Farolan to resign “out of delicadeza and out of love” for the university.

Binay was reacting to Farolan’s controversial social media post that threatened players of Ateneo de Manila University with injury in Game 2 of the UAAP Finals.

“Out of delicadeza and out of love for UP, it is best for Regent Spocky Farolan to tender his resignation. He has put UP in a bad light twice. First was about UP College Admission Test (UPCAT), and now the UAAP,” Binay said in a statement.

Earlier in April, Farolan drew flak after responding with arrogance to a post about the results of the UPCAT.

Binay is the second senator to call for the resignation of Farolan.

Senator Francis Pangilinan earlier said that the statement of Farolan against the Blue Eagles players were “totally unacceptable and a disgrace” to the university.

In a now-deleted post, Farolan said that three players of Ateneo would miss the Game 2 of the UAAP Finals due to injury. He did not disclose any names.

/je
