Politicians, celebrities react to Game 1 between UP, Ateneo

After Game 1 of the UAAP men’s basketball finals on Saturday, which the Ateneo Blue Eagles won against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 88-79, many celebrities and politicians took to social media to share their reactions.

Sen. Risa Hontiveros, an Ateneo alumna, said on Twitter: “We’re the defending champs, but you know how to challenge, how to #UPFight. Kita tayo sa Game 2!”

Another Ateneo alumna, Aika Robredo, eldest daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo, also expressed her joy for the Blue Eagles’ victory.

Meanwhile, Sens. Francis Pangilinan and Sonny Angara, both UP alumni, expressed their support for the Fighting Maroons.

Actress Agot Isidro shared a touching message for UP, saying UP “played with hearts bigger than their campus.”

Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque assured UP that they would be victorious in Games 2 and 3 of the finals.

Sen. Nancy Binay then shared a photo of her watching the battle with her blockmates.

Sen. Francis Escudero, a UP alumnus, congratulated Ateneo and hoped to see Game 2 and 3.
