DID YOU KNOW: Pan-Am’s China Clipper’s first airmail flight

On Nov. 29, 1935, the China Clipper of the Pan-American Airways Company arrived in Manila on the first airmail flight from San Francisco.

With a stopover in Guam, the plane brought 110,000 letters, including one from US President Franklin D. Roosevelt to President Manuel Quezon. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
