President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday endorsed Bohol gubernatorial candidate and his longtime friend Leoncio “Jun” Evasco. Jr.
“Ako, this is not the proper forum, but I would say na ang kandidato ko talaga dito si Jun,” Duterte said in his speech before the soldiers in Camp Rajah Sikatuna in Carmen, Bohol.
Duterte said one of Evasco’s rivals once asked him to raise his hand in public.
“He asked for it and in public and I don’t want to embarrass people,” Duterte said.
“But sabi ko, I have to go there and one day announce that you are not my candidate because we were never allied together,” he added.
Evasco was a three-term mayor of Maribojoc town before he joined Duterte’s Cabinet. He also served as the President’s campaign manager during the 2016 presidential election.
