Grab Philippines launched on Tuesday its taxi service in Subic in partnership with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).

“As the everyday app, we at Grab believe in the smart cities of tomorrow, and introducing our technology to Subic brings it closer to its vision of building its very own smart city,” Grab Country Head Brian Cu said in a statement.

“With GrabTaxi now in place, locals and tourists will now have a more convenient, safer, and faster way of commuting,” he added.

“As the everyday app, we at Grab believe in the smart cities of tomorrow, and introducing our technology to Subic brings it closer to its vision of building its very own smart city,” he said.

SBMA Chairman and Administrator Wilma T. Eisma, meanwhile, said that the partnership would “greatly help the hundreds and thousands of employees of over 1,600 business locators in the free port.”

With the expansion of Grab to Subic, the company has now presence in 12 cities in the country, namely Manila, Cebu, Davao, Pampanga, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Baguio, Bataan, Naga, Iloilo, and Tacloban.

About 120 Grab taxi drivers are now accepting bookings in Subic. The drivers, according to Cu, were trained to ensure that they would follow the standards on safety and service set by Grab. /ee
