One month after Boracay’s re-opening, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has allowed a total of 243 hotels and resorts to operate on the island.
As of Nov. 26, DOT announced in its latest Boracay bulletin that 9,248 rooms are available for visitors in the populat tourist destination.
Among the establishments allowed to operate, the Fairways and Bluewater Resort in Barangay Yapak has the highest number of rooms with 700.
Meanwhile, Savoy Hotel Boracay in Newcoast, Barangay Yapak has the second highest number of rooms which can accommodate 463 rooms.
Boracay reopened last Oct. 26 following a six-month closure for its rehabilitation.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier called for its closure and clean-up after raising concern about the island’s environmental and zoning problems. /muf
