Village chief hurt in firefight with Camarines Sur cops

NAGA CITY – An incumbent village chief was wounded during a firefight with police conducting a buy-bust operation against him in Del Gallego town in Camarines Sur province, police said.

According to information gathered from Del Gallego police, Jose Oriel Legaspi was the target of the buy-bust in Barangay (village) Peñafrancia at 12:20 p.m.

Police said the buy-bust suddenly turned into an armed confrontation.

As of Saturday afternoon, police have not yet revealed how the gunfight started as the investigation continued.
