2 suspected car thieves slain in shootout with QC cops

Two suspected car thieves were killed following a shootout on Thursday with officers of the Batasan Police Station in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

According to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) report on Friday, the suspects identified only as alias “Black Jack” and alias “Asiong,” both around 30 to 35 years old, forcibly took the Honda Beat motorcycle and the cellphone of their victim along De Leon Street in Barangay Holy Spirit on Thursday.

After several hours, the suspects messaged the victim’s brother, informing them that they can recover their motorcycle in exchange for P20,000.

This prompted authorities to create an entrapment operation to arrest the two suspects on Kalamiong Street, Barangay Payatas A in Quezon City.  An undercover officer accompanied the victim in meeting with the suspects.

However, both suspects drew and fired their guns upon sensing that they were transacting with law enforcers, forcing the undercover policeman to return fire killing one of the two.  The other suspect tried to escape by firing shots at the backup policemen. He, too, was killed during the shootout.

Investigators who processed the crime scene recovered a loaded .45 caliber pistol, a .45 caliber Colt Defender pistol, and another .38 caliber revolver with three cartridges, including various identification cards, the stolen motorcycle, four sachets of shabu, and the marked money. /jpv
