Coco sap gatherer shoots farmer to death in Davao del Sur
MAGSAYSAY, Davao del Sur — A coconut sap gatherer killed his neighbor using a homemade shotgun following a verbal tussle at Purok 4, Sitio Bob, Barangay Barayong in this town about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Senior Insp. Cris Ian Taghap, chief of the Magsaysay Municipal Police Station, said Emilio Maria Rosal, 59, a Tagacaulo living at Purok 4, Sitio Bob, Barangay Barayong had a heated argument with Eduardo Castro de la Conception, 57.
There pacified by a barangay tanod.
Later, Rosal was already in the hut of a neighbor when De la Conception suddenly arrived with a long firearm and shot him.
He was hit in the right chest and died.
De la Conception fled, leaving a bloodstained 12-gauge shotgun in a grassland about 50 meters from his house.
Police said the suspect was mauled by two of Rosal’s sons on the night of Nov. 2 at Purok 1, Barangay New Ilocos in Magsaysay town.
The remains of the victim are now at the Brillantes Funeral Home in Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
