2 suspected drug pushers killed in QC shootout

Two suspected drug pushers were killed and another one was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay UP Campus in Quezon City Tuesday.

Police identified the slain suspects as Robinry Magtarayo alias “Suka” and Jeffrey Rodriguez alias “Jeff.” A third suspect identified as Bernie Maravilla was meanwhile arrested.

A report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday said Magtarayo drew a pistol and fired at an undercover agent on sensing that he was caught in a buy-bust.

Rodriguez also opened fire at the police officers and tried to flee but was later collared and was shot by the police officers. Maravilla meanwhile did not resist arrest, police said.

The bust was conducted by elements from the Anonas Police Station and the Quezon City Police District Drug Enforcement Unit after receiving reports that the three suspects are engaged in the selling of illegal drugs.

Seized from Magtarayo was a caliber .38 revolver with four live bullets, two improvised s shotguns, a sachet of marijuana, and several drug paraphernalia.

Also recovered from Rodriguez were a caliber 45 pistol with three bullets and an extra caliber .45 magazine with seven bullets.

Meanwhile, Maravilla yielded three sachets of shabu. He is now detained at the Anonas police station as charges are being readied against him. /muf
