The Agence France Presse (AFP) debunked on Tuesday a Facebook post claiming that the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos holds a Guinness World Record for being the “Most Brilliant President in History.”
“Guinness World Records has given him no such accolade, although it does list him (Marcos) for committing the ‘Greatest robbery of a Government,’” the AFP said.

The French news agency said they checked the Guinness World website and found no such title awarded to Marcos.
“No accolade for “World’s Most Brilliant President” exists for Marcos on the Guinness World Records site,” it said.“AFP has an account for the site and can access the whole list of its records.”

AFP said that it “initially detected” the false Facebook post “that identified itself as supporting” former Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa.
The page, according to French news agency, has nearly one million followers and the post in question has garnered more than 2,700 reactions and nearly 1,000 shares in less than 24 hours since it was posted on November 19. /ee
