Oreta political officer shot dead in Malabon

Five unidentified men shot dead a political officer of Malabon Mayor Antolin Oreta III on Tuesday morning, a radio report said.

Radio dzMM identified the victim as Rodrigo Tambo, who reportedly won as first councilman of Barangay Tambo in the recent Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

Witness accounts said the suspects arrived in the barangay on motorcycles and attacked Tambo at about 8 a.m. while telling onlookers to not interfere.

According to the Malabon police, Tambo did not get any death threats prior to the killing.

The local government is coordinating with the police regarding the probe of the case. /cbb
