Retired cop killed by riding-in-tandem in Iloilo City

A retired police officer in Iloilo City was shot dead by gunmen on a motorcycle on Monday morning.

In a radio report, the victim, identified as retired Senior Police Officer II Rolando Alag, was driving a white van when two gunmen opened fire in Barangay Villa Anita, Iloilo City.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but he died of gunshot wounds.

CCTV footage shows the gunmen racing behind the van driven by Alag then speeding towards its side. The motorcycle quickly stopped beside the driver and the backrider jumped off, pulled out a handgun and opened fire.

The killers then sped off as at least two witnesses looked on nearby.

Superintendent Jonathan Pablito, director of the Iloilo City Police station 1, confirmed that Alag’s last assignment was in Iloilo City.

The police are still investigating the background of the victim, the report said. /cbb
