LRT 1 resumes full operation ahead of schedule
MANILA, Philippines—The Light Rail Transit (LRT) line 1 has resumed its operations on Baclaran to Roosevelt station on Monday, a day earlier than the original schedule.
“Our Maintenance team exerted all efforts to complete the integration works over the weekend so as not to give inconvenience to the riding public,” said Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) administrator Rafael Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said that the entire Line 1 ‘signaling system’ has been completed a day ahead of their schedule.
In a statement, the LRTA said that the permanent integration of the signaling systems of the North Extension Project with the existing Line 1 system was expected to “provide a more efficient and safer rail service to train commuters.”
The LRTA said that Line 1 was the “oldest and most used train system” in the country with roughly 5,000 commuters riding its trains from Baclaran to Roosevelt daily.
