President Rodrigo Duterte might fire another top government official on Wednesday due to alleged corruption, INQUIRER.net has learned.
A source, who is privy to the issue but refused to be identified for lack of authority to speak on the matter, said the official was now being investigated.
“[It’s] corruption-related. Investigation is ongoing,” the source told INQUIRER.net.
In his speech before the Filipino community in Papua New Guinea on Friday, Duterte said he would fire another government official upon his return to the Philippines.
“Sinabi ko (I said) I will try to stop corruption and when I go back, meron na naman (there’s another incident). Talagang tanggalin kita, sorry na lang (I’ll really fire you, sorry for that),” he told overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) there.
The President arrived in Davao City on Sunday night after his attendance to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit. /je
