DAGUPAN CITY—- A P2.3 million reward is now being offered for any information that will help solve the murder of former Bayambang town Councilor Levin Uy, who was gunned down while jogging at 7 a.m. on Friday (Nov. 16).
“I am putting up P2 million to reward the one who killed (Uy) and he can be a state witness and disclose who ordered the killing,” said Bayambang Mayor Cesar Quiambao during a Friday afternoon news conference.
Uy had worked for Quaimbao for 18 years and was in charge of some of the mayor’s businesses and foundation. He was also the mayor’s political strategist.
Quaimbao said the killing was politically motivated, and an “act of desperation by persons who would do everything (to win).”
Uy also worked in the past for the Abono partylist group whose chairman, Rosendo So, also offered a P300,000 bounty.
Uy died on arrival at the Bayambang District Hospital from multiple gunshot wounds.
Cesar Salosagcol, a local school administrative aide, who was also jogging with the victim at a dike in Zone 2 was also shot and is now being treated in another hospital.
“This is a big shock for Bayambang, and a painful birthday gift to me. But Bayambang residents know who is behind the killing and I hope that justice will prevail,” said Quiambao.
Quiambao refused to divulge the identity of the man he suspects of ordering Uy’s death. Police said Uy had received death threats sent through text messaging and through the messenger app of his Facebook account. /muf
