Man arrested for laptop theft in Valenzuela

A man who allegedly pretended to be a public school teacher was nabbed by Valenzuela police for stealing a laptop from a faculty room in Karuhatan National High School.

Suspect Francisco Lucuban, 55, will be charged with two counts of theft and falsification of documents before the Valenzuela City Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigation showed that around 9 a.m. on Thursday, complainants Marwin Tatoy, 25, and Patricia Maria Gajes, 31, both public school teachers, noticed that their black Lenovo laptop worth P47,000 was missing from the locker of their faculty room.

Police assistance

The school’s security guard told them it was Lucuban who was last seen inside the faculty room.

The two teachers then sought police assistance.

Lucuban, who claimed to be a senior high school teacher, is a native of Catarman, Northern Samar, and a resident of Morning Breeze Subdivision, Caloocan City.

Police were able to recover from the suspect the stolen laptop and assorted identification cards from the Professional Regulation Commission and Schools Division Office of Valenzuela which police suspect are fake.—MARIEJO S. RAMOS
