A 12-day-old baby boy in Agra, India, was bitten to death by a monkey that stole him from his mother on Monday night.
The baby was being breastfed by the mother at home, when the monkey suddenly appeared and snatched him, reports the Times of India. The infant’s father, identified as Yogesh, said the monkey grabbed the boy by the neck with its mouth and fled.
The infant was then bitten to death by the animal. Family members chased the monkey, making it drop the blood-covered baby on a neighbor’s roof.
The baby was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Local police sub-inspector Atbir Singh said the baby’s body was sent for postmortem and would be handed over to the family. He added the infant had wounds in his skull and neck.
The report also cited that minutes before attacking the baby, the monkey went in at a 14-year-old girl. She survived, having minor injuries. Katrina Hallare /ra
