President Rodrigo Duterte is now in Papua New Guinea to participate in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Week.
The President’s plane landed at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea which is hosting the November 17-18 meet. The President went straight to Papua New Guinea from Singapore where he attended the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit.
Malacañang earlier said that no specific bilateral meeting has been set yet for the President during the gathering, however, the Palace said he will meet with the Filipino community in Papua New Guinea on Friday night.
Papua New Guinea is home to over 40,000 Filipinos and over 200 Philippine companies, Malacañang earlier noted.
During the summit, the Palace said the President will push for a multilateral trading system and uphold the role of APEC as the forum for addressing issues, leveraging on the region’s economic growth and pursuing open markets. /muf
