In Cebu, 4 dead in 24 hours

CEBU CITY — Four people, including a policeman, were killed in separate shooting incidents in Cebu province in just 24 hours from Tuesday to Wednesday.

PO2 Lord Rometh Cañada was shot dead on Wednesday by a masked man armed with a submachine gun at Barangay Calajo-an in Minglanilla town.

Chief Insp. Vernino Noserale, Minglanilla police chief, said Cañada was with his brother-in-law, Ken Echavez, outside a car repair shop when the suspect in a blue car stopped in front of them and shot them.

Echavez was wounded and taken to South General Hospital for treatment.

Also on Wednesday, a 48-year-old man was shot and killed by two men on a motorcycle while he was having lunch at Barangay Cubacub in Mandaue City.

Driver, suspected robber

At Barangay Mabolo in Cebu City, Flaviano Abay, 49, a tricycle driver, was killed by a masked man while he was about to drop off his passenger on Tuesday.

In the afternoon of the same day, policemen shot and killed Paquito Vilarmin, a robbery suspect, at Barangay Lahug in Cebu City.
