President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the renewal of franchise granted to the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC).
Duterte signed Republic Act No. 11109 last Oct. 30, which grants the renewal for another 25 years of MBC’s franchise. A copy of the law was shared to the media on Thursday.
MBC is a radio and television network currently owned by the FJE Group of Companies, which also operates hotels and a Pasay-based amusement theme park. Its AM flagship station, dzRH is the oldest radio station in the country.
Duterte, likewise, approved for another 25 years the franchises of Bright Star Broadcasting Network Corporation and Vanguard Radio Network Company.
Created in April 1992, Bright Star or Retro 105.9 DCG-FM plays a diverse mix of retro pop, dance, hip-hop, rap, R&B, new wave and soul music.
Vanguard Radio, meanwhile, provides news and entertainment through its broadcast stations in Nueva Ecija, Baguio City, La Union, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Cagayan, and Bohol. /jpv
