Councilor wounded, barker killed in Davao gun attacks

DAVAO CITY – Unidentified gunmen shot a town official and a jeepney barker at a public terminal in Davao del Norte on Tuesday, police said Wednesday.

The Davao del Norte police office reported the barker, Lito Labor, 55, was dead on arrival at the Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City following the shooting at 3:45 p.m.

Wounded in the attack was Alvin Anib Libres, 37, a town councilor of New Corella, the report said.

Police said Libres was inside his parked truck in Poblacion village, New Corella, when an undetermined number of assailants shot him in the neck.

Moments later, gunmen also targeted Labor, who was at the public terminal calling out for passengers. He was standing several meters away from where Libres was shot.

The perpetrators fled after the attacks. /cbb
