Pasay village councilor killed

A Barangay 128 councilor in Pasay City was relaxing by the roadside on Sunday night when an unidentified man shot him repeatedly at close range.

The police said Wilfredo Dimaculangan, 51, was rushed by bystanders to Pasay City General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

A report said that around 7:10 p.m. on Sunday, Dimaculangan was seated on a chair on Pasay Boulevard at Barangay 128 when two suspects on a motorcycle stopped at nearby Tripa de Galina Street.

While the driver served as a lookout, his companion, clad in a white T-shirt and ball cap, walked up to the victim and shot him repeatedly, according to members of the Pasay City police’s investigation division.

The two men then made a quick escape.

BI to deport 9 illegal aliens

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) will deport nine Chinese nationals who were caught illegally working at shopping malls in Pasay City and Manila.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said on Monday that the Chinese workers were either undocumented or possessed counterfeit documents.

In one case, Morente said the Chinese worker “assumed someone else’s identity as he had no record of arrival.”

For foreigners to be employed in the country, they must secure an alien employment permit from the Department of Labor and Employment.

But the permit will be given only if there is no Filipino competent or willing to do the job being offered to the foreigner. —Jovic Yee
