DID YOU KNOW: 44% of Filipinos prefer to drink bottled water

According to the latest National Demographic and Health Survey released by the Philippine Statistics Authority, the most common source of drinking water for households in the Philippines in 2017 were bottled water or water from a refilling station (44 percent).

Next were piped water into the dwelling, yard or plot (24 percent) and from a tube well or borehole (12 percent).

By region, the use of an improved source of drinking water ranged from a low of 71 percent in Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao to a high of over 99 percent in the National Capital Region and Central Luzon. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
