LUCENA CITY — A member of a political clan in Quezon province who was involved in a drug case was shot dead inside his house in Tayabas City around noontime Monday, police said.

Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, chief of the Quezon Police Provincial Office, report identified the victim as Cer Orillez Alcala, youngest son of Cerilo “Athel” Alcala, known here as a suspected bigtime drug lord who had been arrested several times on drug charges but were eventually freed on bail after spending some time in jail here.

Athel is the younger brother of Quezon Second District Rep. Vicente Alcala and former Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala.

According to a police report, the man was sleeping in his house in Leveriza Heights Subdivision in Barangay Isabang when two still unidentified gunmen entered the house and shot the victim using a still unknown caliber of firearms.

The suspects immediately fled after the shooting.

The victim, who had two bullet wounds in his head, died while being taken to Lucena Doctors Hospital in Lucena City.

In November 2016, the slain man and his elder brother Sajid were nabbed in a buy-bust operation in Sariaya town.

Police seized 62 grams of shabu from the siblings and their four companions.

The brothers were allowed to post bail.

A month before they were arrested, their mother Maria Fe and sister Toni Ann were also collared in a buy-bust. Authorities seized 115 grams of shabu from the two.

They are still detained in a Quezon jail. /atm
