A Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) official has requested for an urgent meeting to discuss the P2 jeepney fare hike in the wake of rollbacks in the prices of fuel.

LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada, the sole dissenter on the jeepney fare increase, on Monday issued a memorandum calling for a “special board meeting” as soon as possible “to discuss measures on how to deal with” a situation of a permanent fare hike amid decreasing prices of petroleum products.

The LTFRB approved the P2 increase in the minimum fare of public utility jeepneys due to weekly increases in fuel prices prior November.
