Couple nabbed in Oriental Mindoro drug raid

CITY OF CALAPAN – A married couple suspected to be drug pushers were arrested by the police  in Roxas town in Oriental Mindoro province on Sunday morning.

Supt. Imelda Tolentino, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police information officer, said  Jonie and Amabel Ascano, were collared by police and anti-drug agents after raiding teams found two plastic sachets containing suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) at their residence in Barangay San Jose at about 6:30 a.m.

Police have yet to determine the value of the illegal drug found in the couple’s possession.

As of Sunday afternoon,  the couple was brought to the Roxas municipal police station for proper disposition. Investigation is still ongoing as of posting time. /ee
